Bingo Book Discussion

Join us for an Adult’s Only Tuesday Night Book Discussion group, kicking off on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:00 pm.  Instead of all participants reading the same book, we are going to try a different concept. The library picks a category and we ask the participants to choose their own title from that category to read.  We will come together to share the books we read (or listened to), recommend (or not) for others to read, get suggestions for your next read, ask and answer questions, and generally have a good time sharing our reading lists and ideas.

The category for February 28th is books made into movies.  It can be a book made into a movie years ago, or a book that will be seen in the theatres this year.  Looking ahead, we have chosen to read biographies in March, a discussion on your favorite author in April, young adult titles in May, and books set in Northeastern Colorado in June.

For those of you that have picked up your 2017 Reading Challenge booklets, these categories might sound familiar to you.  If you haven’t accepted the library’s challenge, stop in the library and we will get you started on the adventure.

If you have questions about the book discussion group, please call the library at 970-842-4596.  Do you need a list of books that were made into movies?  We can help you with that also.  See our display, ask our staff, or check out the following web sites:

Good Reads

We will not have a lot of rules, except to respect the views of all participants.  You do not need to attend every month to partake.  Come when you can.  Of course, we hope that you attend once and enjoy it so much you come back the following month with a friend!

Adult Reading Challenge Wrap Up

The 2016 Adult Reading Challenge wrapped up with a get together on January 3rd, 2017.  We made new friends, talked about our favorite books, shared reading lists, laughed and generally had a great time.  We also wrapped up the challenge with the drawing of the grand prize – an iPad mini.  Winner was Deena Schendel.

Just some fun facts about the 2016 challenge: we had 47 participants; 14 participants completed the challenge of reading 50 books (25 from states and 25 from different countries); as a group they read and recorded a total of 1400 books!

We are looking forward to kicking off the 2017 Adult Reading Challenge on February 1st.   Stop by and pick up your bingo card – yes, we are playing bingo this year!  The goal – to get blackouts on 2 bingo cards.  You will complete one bingo card vertically and one bingo card horizontally.   Get a bingo (read 5 challenge books) and receive a $5 gift card to an area business and have your name entered to win the grand prize at the end of the year.  Complete the challenge (50 books) and you will be entered to win 10 times.

Be sure to ask for your Bingo booklet after February 1st. The challenge can be started anytime of the year. Tell your friends! Participate, read, and have fun!
